Marijuana legalization measure qualifies for November ballot
  • 8 years ago
California voters will decide this fall whether to legalize the recreational use of marijuana.
The Secretary of State's office announced late Tuesday afternoon that counties have validated enough voter signatures to place an initiative on the November ballot -- setting the stage for a pivotal battle this fall.
The Adult Use of Marijuana Act would authorize the state to license, regulate and tax marijuana.
Backed in part by venture capitalist Sean Parker, the initiative will be the second in recent years to go before California voters asking if they want to legalize recreational use of the drug for people 21 and older
