Hypocrites try to look capable and clever around the irreligious, and incompetent around the believers

ADNAN OKTAR: As hypocrites are quite treacherous and dishonorable, they put on petty acts around the disbelievers thinking that they can gain personal benefit by leading the disbelievers to believe they are capable, clever, daring and attentive. For example, they try to demonstrate the irreligious how observant, perceptive, foresighted they are in order to gain their appreciation. They strive for this purpose all their lives, like a trapped dog, so to speak. They fall over themselves to gain the appreciation of the irreligious. For that reason, for example, the hypocrites of the era of Our Prophet (saas) were a law unto themselves. Each hypocrite was after ingratiating himself with the disbelievers. For example, when a believer had contact with the Roman Empire, he would normally speak highly of the Prophet (saas) and his ethics, right? But the hypocrites would only brag about themselves and try to show of their knowledge and intelligence gathering skills with the intention to gain benefit, while the Romans would dismiss with a mere "well done". Other than a letter sent as an invitation to Islam, Our Prophet (saas) did not have any diplomatic relations with the Rome. Had they wished so, the hypocrites of the era could personally visit Rome to introduce Our Prophet (saas) and invite them to Islam, but they only promoted themselves. The hypocrites accredit even the tiniest information to themselves. They accredit even the tiniest benefit to themselves. They do not want give any credit to the Prophet (pbuh) as they only seeked personal glory.

For example, since the irreligious possess strong armies and weapons, in other words, a visible power, the hypocrites favor the irreligious over the believers as they favor visible power. They disregard the power of God even though it is God who creates all the armies and weapons the irreligious have. For example, the hypocrites are only concerned with the warplanes in the possession of the English deep state, or whether they rule over the USA or Russia. They do not mind to the fact that God rules over them all. The hypocrites only care about what is visible and substantial, in other words, they are materialists. They are not aware, or rather, they ignore the fact that it is God Who grants all the power.

For example, when they are asked to do even the simplest things, they claim they cannot. They do not outright refuse to do what they are asked but they feign incompetence. Thus, they force the believers to give up on asking hypocrites for help. For example, if believers are to go to jihad, hypocrites act as if they are not good at it. For example, the hypocrites act as if they are incapable of defending themselves, riding their horses or wielding a weapon. They do so deliberately out of their immorality, otherwise, if they think they can gain benefit in anyway, they can do anything excellently. But since they see no benefit to be gained, they feign incompetence so that they won't serve for the good of Muslims. However, when they are around the irreligious, hypocrites try hard to prove that they are quite capable, brave, attentive, clever and successful in order to gain the approval and acceptance of the irreligious. In other words, they give their all in order to be initiated by the irreligious and join their ranks. Because hypocrites seek power, strength and glory among the irreligious. God refers to this in the verse of the Quran, "Do they hope to find power and honor with them?" Hypocrites always seek these things among the irreligious. Therefore, they resort to all kinds of flattery and show of intelligence in order to prove themselves to the irreligious. And witnessing the sycophantic and dishonorable attitude of hypocrites, the irreligious despise them all the more.
