Alevis are a beloved people and teachers of love

ADNAN OKTAR: Alevis are a beloved people; they are the teachers of love who have taught the whole Anatolia, the whole world about love and beauty. Have you ever met an Alevi person? You have not. Some people act on hearsays and rumors they have heard from here and there. When we were children, we heard such nonsensical rumors as well. When I personally met with Alevis, I saw that they are wonderful people. I entered Haji Bektash Veli's Room of Suffering [A room the Sufi disciples used for solitary retreat during which a disciple does extensive spiritual exercises under the direction of a Sufi master]. After entering the room something came over me. In fact, when I returned, my mother said to me "You have changed a lot." Not only my mother but everyone said the same; "You have changed a lot." Haji Bektash Veli has a very spiritual side. This spiritual superiority is highly evident in all the Alevis as they are very mature people. You are just interpreting the verses and hadiths by their obvious meanings, but Alevis possess a spiritual depth, a depth stemming from love; they live Islam quintessentially. I had a brother-in-law named Ahmet Kılıç. He would perform his prayers five times a day and was a very honest person. As I have told you the other day, his house would always be full of guests. He was quite modest and he had a heart of gold. Some people perceive Islam as bigotry; Islam is love.
