An NHL franchise is set to debut in Las Vegas for the 2017-18 season after the Board of Governors approved expanding to this city making the franchise the 31st team in the league Businessman Bill Foley paid the $500 million expansion fee to bring NHL hockey to Las Vegas The team will play its home games on the Vegas strip at T-Mobile Arena, an arena with a hockey capacity of 17,500, and compete in the Western Conference
