Tragedy Of Elephant Serial Killings In India

A 50-year-old wild elephant in West Bengal has died after being electrocuted by illegal electric fencing. He is the fifth elephant to die as a result of high voltage fences in the last six months - four are said to have died in the Nigiri Biosphere Reserve in India. The male elephant was discovered in Debi Shimul village under the Dalgao Range, Jalpaiguri forest division in West Bengal on June 18th 2016. Villagers in the area erect the illegal fencing to protect their crops from elephants who wander over their farmland and damage their harvest.
