A family in Houston, Texas is mourning the loss of 3-year-old Evan Trapolino who died after being found inside a hot car, reports KPRC.
According to the Houston Police Department, on Thursday, the child allegedly got out of his house and jumped into the vehicle parked outside. He reportedly entered from the front and moved to the rear part of the car. As the child lock was activated, the 3-year-old could not exit the vehicle.
KTRK notes that the family became aware of Evan's whereabouts 30-45 minutes later.
He reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest and was rushed to an area hospital but was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
Chris Johnson, a neighbor, commented to KHOU, “A complete freak accident. Little boy was out playing around. Nobody saw him or heard him go outside...Anything having to do with a kid, especially a 3-year-old, it hurts.”
According to KTRK, "Police say this appears to have been a tragic accident. At this point, no charges have been filed."
