Some shelter dogs find new families right away, while others can spend months or even years waiting to be picked. Ravens offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley recently did his part to ensure a pup that’s been passed over finally got her forever home.

When Stanley, his girlfriend, and a teammate arrived at the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS) they asked for a dog that was, “…maybe not-so-adoptable.”
He was shown a number of canines in that category, and decided a female pit bull named Winter was the girl for him.
The 6-year-old dog had been through a lot. The staff at the shelter believe Winter was once a breeding dog who had too many offspring, resulting in a permanently saggy stomach.
According to volunteers at BARCS, Stanley thought nothing of it.
He was more focused on how loving she is, notes WCMH.
