A teenager in Colorado faces first-degree murder and kidnapping charges for the alleged fatal shooting of his ex-girlfriend, reports the Denver Post.
According to authorities, Tanner Flores, 18, was “upset and distraught” over his recent breakup with Ashley Doolittle, whom he’d been dating for a year, notes BuzzFeed News.
Flores was arrested on Friday after Doolittle’s body was discovered hours away from their hometown.
According to an arrest affidavit, he later admitted he had shot her in the head twice, then drove to a location across the state, notes KUSA.
There, he allegedly cleaned up her body and returned it to the car.
Flores’ father told authorities that his revolver had disappeared from the locked cabinet that housed it, and noted his son was aware of the key’s location.
Flores is scheduled to next appear in court on June 24.
