Thousands of people in Orlando, still reeling after a gunman killed 49 people at a gay nightclub in the city, sang, cried and mourned together on Monday at a mass vigil held to remember the victims The crowd heard multiple appeals for unity after the attack and for reform of the country’s lax gun laws There was also a symbolic reading of the victims’ names jointly by a lesbian woman and a Muslim, which left many of the crowd in tears
