Udta Punjab Cleared With 13 Cuts Under 'A' Category !

After much controversy, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) gave the approval to Udta Punjab with 'A' certificate. The movie is based on the drug problem in Punjab. Well the film created a major controversy after it ran into trouble with the CBFC, with the officials demanding 89 cuts in it and the removal of the word 'Punjab' from the title. On this CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani said the film certification board did not ask for removal of word ‘Punjab’ from the title. He further said that today, the film has been passed with ‘A’ certificate. The claim of producer to remove the title of the film by board is false. The board never asked for its removal. All these reports are false. Pahlaj said that the nine members of the CBFC watched the film and cleared it after the proposed 13 cuts. The board recommended 13 cuts in the film, which are valid. The CBFC's revising committee has suggested a number of changes in the movie. Pahlaj further said that the CBFC's job is now over. It is now up to the producer to go to the court or tribunal. Well director Abhishek Chaubey’s movie will release on 17th June, which stars Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor-Khan and Diljit Dosanjh. Shahid plays the role of a drug addict rockstar, Bebo plays the role of a doctor, Alia as Bihari migrant and Diljit plays police officer.
