Dead man’s pet parrot may be only witness to his murder

ENSLEY, MICHIGAN — The parents of a dead Michigan man are convinced his pet parrot witnessed the murder and has been repeating his last words.

WABC reports that 45-year-old Martin Duram was fatally shot in his home in May 2015. Police also found his wife Glenna with a gunshot wound to the head.

She survived the injury, but claims to not remember anything about the incident.

Initially seen as a double homicide, officers are now investigating the possibility of a murder-suicide — with Glenna as the prime suspect. Investigators say she left behind three suicide letters, and suggest she shot Duram five times before turning the gun on herself.

According to police records, the couple had numerous financial and gambling problems, though Glenna denies killing her husband.

The only witness to the crime — Duram’s pet bird Bud, an African gray parrot — has been constantly mimicking a man and woman locked in a fierce argument, before delivering a chilling line: ‘Don’t f---ing shoot!’

According to the Washington Post, family members believe Bud is repeating what he heard on the day his owner was killed. Unfortunately, his statements may not be admissible in court, since there is no reliable way to determine that they were from the murder, and not from something he heard elsewhere.
