President Obama has commuted the sentences of 348 inmates since he took office, the most commutations than the previous seven presidents combined. Half of the inmates on Friday’s list had been sentenced to life for non-violent drug offenses, according to the White House. Furthermore, Obama will continue commuting the sentences of inmates throughout the remainder of his seven months in office.
