Mexican international footballer Alan Pulido has been freed following his abduction in the country.
He is said to be safe and well, though reports say he has a bandaged hand.

The 25-year-old, a striker for the Greek team Olympiakos, had been missing since early on Sunday morning.

Local media reports said he was seized by armed men in his hometown of Ciudad Victoria in the northeastern state of Tamaulipas after leaving a party. His girlfriend was unharmed.

A special operation was mounted to find the player in what is one of the most violent states in Mexico, where kidnappings are rife.

He was rescued following an operation by state and national security services.

During a photo op with the state governor, he told reporters he was doing well after his ordeal but was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
