Mississippi gov to join suit against Obama transgender policy

Mississippi Republican governor Phil Bryant said Thursday he planned to join a lawsuit by officials from 11 states to overturn an Obamaadministration directive telling schools to let transgender students to use bathrooms matching their gender identity.
The lawsuit led byTexas, the most important legal challenge to this month’s directive, said the federal government andObama administration officials overstepped their boundaries by taking actions that should be left to Congress or individual states.
