2018 Chevy Camaro Z28 test

  • 8 yıl önce
A prototype for what’s believed to be a new Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 is back testing hard at the Nürburgring. The car was previously thought to be packing the same 640-horsepower supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 fitted to the new ZL1, which Chevy engineers are also fine-tuning at the Nürburgring. However, there’s a distinct lack of supercharger whine for the track-focused car.

According to a previous report, it will come with a revised version of the naturally-aspirated 7.0-liter V-8 fitted to the last Z/28. The revised engine, which may be designated a LT7, is expected to pump out between 540 and 565 hp. The last Z/28 came with 505 hp.

Look for the new track-focused Camaro, whatever it ends up being labeled, to debut next year as a 2018 model.

It’s the first time the prototype has been spotted at the German racetrack since the May 12 crash where it ran off the track and smacked a barrier, likely due to a mechanical issue.

While the car may not end up being called a Z/28, it’s clearly a track-focused version of the sixth-generation Camaro. Telltale signs are the aerodynamic mods, lowered suspension, and seriously wide rubber.
