What are the eight things? 1. The self-lacing (or power-lacing) sneakers That’s right, Nike filed the first patent for this and hope to have it out by the end of the year. 2. Glasses that can make calls Google Glass arrived and, while they currently seem to have disappeared, they certainly delivered on the movies promise. Oh, and don’t forget all the other wearables now out. 3. Video calls on TV A really easy one with Skype, Hangouts, Facetime, Tango, Viber, and more, all delivering. 4. Motion controlled gaming Nintendo started us towards the motion controlled future with the Wii, but Kinect was really the first one to deliver on the promise of gaming with no hands. 5. Flat screen TVs with multiscreen functionality Smart TVs with PiP and Split Screen modes provide everything seen here. 6. Flexible screens These are on their way with numerous prototypes and patents already out in the wild. 7. The Hoverboard Yes, it may only be on a special surface, but it’s just so exciting we are still giving this to the Lexus Hoverboard. If only because of five minutes it made all of my dreams come true. 8. And finally, the double necktie Yeah, okay there are only seven things Back to the Future II got right – but be honest, we are all kind of happy about that.
