Is Facebook "bias" protected under the First Amendment?
Facebook is under fire for the choice of "trending stories".
A report suggested that employees allegedly suppress the conservative stories for its “Trending” module, a list of popularly discussed news events that displays in Facebook’s mobile app and homepage.
But as a First Amendment matter, it's an open-and-shut case: Facebook has the right to exercise editorial judgment — by human editors or algorithms — in any manner it chooses.
Mark Zuckerberg, made sure to address this issue and posted an open letter saying that "Every tool we build is designed to give more people a voice and bring our global community together."
