Shahrukh Khan Donates Rs. 1 Crore For Chennai Flood Victims

A calamity of unprecedented heights struck the people of Chennai. Due to torrential rains, Chennai was inundated with floods which created havoc and mayhem leading to death and devastation of many.

In these trying times, King Khan Shahrukh displayed his Dilwale side when he donated Rs 1 crore for the aid of the flood affected.

Apparently, in a letter addressed to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, Shah Rukh wrote: "We are all deeply affected by the devastation wreaked on the city of Chennai by the fury of nature. At the same time, the resilience of the people of Chennai and the way in which the community has come together to help each other and face this adversity, is commendable and makes us all feel proud."

It must be mentioned here that the actor had faced tremendous criticism as he had plans to raise fund for Pakistan when the country was hit by a massive flood in 2010. Social media channels like Facebook, Twitter and Whatsapp had gone hammer and tongs at the Baadshah for his support then.

But that was then, this time around the Dilwale seems to have got his priorities right.

Appreciating the "massive effort" undertaken by the Tamil Nadu government to counter the crisis, the actor-producer and his film's team sent out Rs 1 crore to the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund.

"On behalf of Red Chillies Entertainment and Team Dilwale, please accept our contribution of Rs 1 Cr (one crore) to the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund. We appreciate the massive effort undertaken by your government and everyone in Chennai, to deal with this calamity and we hope our contribution will help in a small way," the letter said.

Well must say, with this act, Shah Rukh Khan once again establishes that besides a big bank balance, his heart is king sized too.

Meanwhile there's huge buzz for his forthcoming 'Dilwale' which reunites him with his most popular on-screen sweetheart Kajol after a substantial gap. The film which is directed by Rohit Shetty also stars Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon. Songs like 'Gerua' and 'Manma Emotion Jaage' from the film are already a rage.
