Rahul Raj Singh, the boyfriend of actress Pratysha Banerjee, who committed suicide on Friday by hanging herself from the ceiling fan of a room in Singh’s apartment, might soon find himself behind bars as the Sessions Court in Dindoshi has rejected his application for anticipatory bail.

Rahul had been questioned by the police when the suicide was discovered that Singh had been admitted to a hospital two days later after he complained of chest pains and low blood pressure. A day ago, Singh’s lawyer had withdrawn from the case, citing his client’s dishonesty as the reason for his withdrawal and Singh had appointed another lawyer to file the anticipatory bail application, which was rejected by the court.

Yesterday, while talking to the media, Pratyusha’s father said, “Our life has come to a standstill. After her funeral, we filed an FIR. In the FIR, we have mentioned all the problems that Pratyusha went through. We want him (Rahul) to be hanged till death or at least he should get life imprisonment. My daughter is gone now but I want the law to punish him severely so that in the future no other girl has to lose her life like this.”
