'Fan' Movie Review By Pankhurie Mulasi | Shahrukh Khan, Waluscha D'Souza

The film revolves around superstar Aryan Khanna and his lookalike Gaurav Chandana, who also hails from Delhi like his cinematic idol aur jiski shakal kaafi had tak apne favourite actor jaisi dikhti hai.

Gaurav is crazy about Aryan aur unke ghar ki deewaron se lekar uske cyber café tak har jagah apko sirf Aryan hi Aryan deekhega.
Gaurav’s biggest dream is to meet Aryan in person and to hug him tight. Jab Aryan ki acting karke Gaurav ek local competition jeetata hai to wo wahan se mili winners trophy Aryan ko uske birthday pe dene ka plan banata hai, as his birthday gift. He travels to Mumbai to meet the superstar however, little does he know that meeting a star is no child’s play.

How Gaurav finally meets Aryan? What happens when Aryan meet his obsessed fan aur kyu aur kaise Aryan ka sabse badha fan uska sabse badha dushman ban jaata hai forms the rest of the plot.
If you ever had any doubts about SRK’s super stardom this film will wipe them away. If you thought that Shah Rukh had lost his mojo after watching his last few releases, this film will prove you wrong.

Shah Rukh Khan is film mein double role mein nazar aye hai aur unhone apne dono drastically different characters ko bahut hi khubsurati se nibhaya hai. While he plays the arrogant yet dignified superstar with ease, he pulls off the role of the adorable Gaurav with great elan as well. Shah Rukh is charming as the superstar however, it’s his doppelganger with protruded teeth who wins your heart, with his boyish charm and Dilli wala accent.

Film ka first half bahut interesting, bahut realistic aur kaafi relatable hai. But the film loses track towards the second half jahan it becomes larger than life, very unrealistic and even illogical.
Film ka second half flaws se bhara hua hai.

Jahan film ke first half me Gaurav ko dekh k koi hairaan nahi hota as he looks strikingly similar to the superstar, film ke second half mein half of the world mistakes him for Aryan. London ka police department ho ya SRK ka staff, Gaurav outsmarts everyone. Har jagah CCTV honey k bawajood Aryan, ye prove nahi kar pata ki jis time pe Gaurav Aryan ban k ghum raha hota hai at that time he was smwhere else.

Aryan’s career gets affected because of Gaurav’s antic but he takes no major action against him and neither does he files a case against him despite knowing everything about it. Aryan chahta to wo Gaurav ko apne do chaar bodyguard bhijwa ke bhi seedha kar sakta tha, lekin nahi hamara hero akele hi Dilli ke us aam ladhke se ladhne chala jaata hai.

Maneesh Sharma has shot the film well and has been able to get an outstanding performance from the King Khan but the screenplay falls flat on its face and it not only becomes silly towards the second half, it also slacks. Habib Faisal however deserves a pat on his back for the dialogues. Film mein ek bhi gaana nahi hai however, the background score is quite good.

All in all Fan is a film which should be watched only for Shah Rukh Khan’s mindblowing performance and of course if you are a die-hard Shah Rukh Khan fan you will certainly watch it. I give this film a rating of 3 stars.
