rugby highlights:Glasgow Warriors scrum-half Mike Blair announces retirement.
Former Scotland captain Mike Blair has retired immediately from playing with Glasgow Warriors.

The 35-year-old, who was capped 85 times and was a British and Irish Lion, is currently sidelined through concussion with the Pro12 club.

Blair will become an assistant coach with the Scotstoun club next season.

"Although there was an opportunity to play on next year, I believe now is the right time for me to make that change," he said.

"It was always my intention to move into a coaching role.

"With only a few games left this season, I have unfortunately run out of time to be able to regain my fitness before the end of this campaign."

Blair started his professional career with Edinburgh and had spells with Brive and Newcastle Falcons before joining Glasgow last summer.
