European Union to propose visa-free travel for turks on May 4

The European Union's executive said it will propose on May 4 granting Turks visa-free travel to the bloc beginning late June in a deal which looks to stop uncontrolled migration into Europe.
The European Commission's initial report of last month's EU-Turkey agreement said good progress has been made, but more resources and commitment are needed to sustain the returns of migrants and to resettle Syrian refugees from Turkey directly to Europe.
An amount of 72 benchmarks need to be met for visa liberalization and there are several areas where work needs to be done.
Such benchmarks include things like reducing a backlog of asylum applications and granting all refugees legal access to the labor market.
