Stimulant banned from sports found in dietary supplements

A stimulant banned from competitive sports has been found in 14 dietary supplements marketed for “burning” body fat.
Researchers foundthe stimulant, Oxilofrine, was listed on product labels under the alternative name of Methylsynephrine.
Oxilofrine raises blood pressure and heart rate and in some countries is used as a prescription drug for low blood pressure.
TheWorld Anti-Doping Agency considers it a doping agent, banning itfrom sports.
An FDA spokesperson said the agency is taking action.
