A new study describes the behavior of an exoplanet called HD 80606b in the context of providing insights about a largely mysterious system of gaseous bodies called ‘hot Jupiters.’

Scientists are learning more about a category of exoplanets called “hot Jupiters.”

A NASA press release describes them as “gas giants like Jupiter but much hotter, with orbits that take them feverishly close to their stars.”

These fairly common bodies have remained largely mysterious, but a new study aims to reveal some insights learned from a specific one called HD 80606b.

Located approximately 190 light years away from Earth, it differentiated itself from the others with its obl
