Doctor offers lame excuse for how his semen ended up on a patient’s face

NEW YORK CITY — Former doctor David Newman, who was accused of sexual abuse by a patient, claims his semen got on her face by accident.

The New York Daily News reports that last January, a 22-year-old female patient was at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan to get her shoulder treated. After being given two pills and a shot of morphine by the nurse, she put on a hospital gown to prepare for an X-ray.

When Newman walked in, he administered another dose of morphine despite her protests that a nurse had already given her a shot. Though sedated, the woman remained conscious and claimed Dr. Newman masturbated and ejaculated on her face. DNA from the sample found on the woman’s cheek was later confirmed to be a match to Newman.

When investigators went to talk to Newman, however, the doctor denied the allegations, reports the New York Post. Explaining that he had masturbated in the lounge that day, he told police the semen might have been transferred onto the patient while he was treating her.

Newman was arrested a week later after turning himself in. The 45-year-old doctor was charged with one count of first-degree sexual abuse and four counts of third-degree sexual abuse. He pleaded not guilty to all five counts.
