War Veterans Overcome PTSD With Country Dancing

War Veterans can have a hard time dealing with adjusting to life after war. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) affects nearly 3 million veterans! Dancing Well: The Soldier Project is dedicated to bringing the healing power of music, dance, and community to veterans and families coping with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injury (TBI).

Their mission is to restore the well-being of veterans and families affected by PTSD or TBI through community dance. Dancing Well was born out of Ex. Directors, Deborah Denenfeld’s, belief in the healing power of dance. In a pilot program with soldiers at Fort Knox, she worked closely with staff psychiatrist Edwin O. Walker to develop and implement a dance series specifically attuned to the needs of soldiers with PTSD and/or brain injury and the results were incredible, changing the lives of the vets who participated.
