Mexico: Gender Violence Victims Struggle With Authorities

Although civil society organizations in Mexico have pressured lawmakers in recent years to pass legislation which defends basic rights of women and which would provide legal precedents to sanction aggressors of gender-based violence, the country continues to see an alarming climb in femicide rates. Yet a group of organizations are saving women's lives through a network of refuges and practices of empowerment as a means to confront patriarchy and gender violence.
