The creature was first introduced to the scientific community in 1958 by amateur paleontologist Francis Tully, who found the odd fossil in Illinois’ Mazon Creek.
Scientists have been able to determine the Tully Monster and the similar specimens found in the area since date back some 300 million years, but not much else.
