BOULEVARD PARK, WASHINGTON — A customer at a 7-11 shot and killed a masked man wielding a hatchet after he attacked the clerk Sunday morning.

The attack occurred in the area of S 112th St. & 8th Ave S. in the Boulevard Park area of Burien.

King County Sheriff Sgt. Cindi West told KING 5 News that a man came into the store with a hatchet, attacking customers and a clerk before another customer shot and killed the suspect.

Kuldeep Singh, the clerk at the store, received a gash on his stomach but is alright.

The customer, a 60-year-old Seattle man, was not injured. West said the case will be forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for evaluation but the initial stages of the investigation show no wrongdoing.

The 60-year-old is a regular customer and a licensed concealed gun carrier, according to the sheriff’s office.

“There’s a chair that sits really close to the clerk’s counter. He was sitting back there having his morning coffee,” West said. “The guy came in with a mask just swinging the hatchet at both of them.”

That’s when the customer took out his pistol and shot the suspect.

The suspect, believed to be in his 40s, has not yet been identified. Medics at the scene were not able to revive him.
