NEVERS, FRANCE — Unfortunately, the tale of France-based Dutch dentist Jacobus van Nierop will not help calm any raw, exposed fears you may have of the dental profession.

Dubbed the "horror dentist" by the French media, Van Nierop stands accused of some pretty horrific crimes, including yanking out healthy teeth, leaving pieces of dental tools in patients' mouths, and it's alleged, even disfiguring or even mutilating the mouths of people who believed he was helping them.

One woman told the court in the central-eastern town of Nevers that the dentist unexpectedly summoned her to his office in May 2012. Then, without warning, Van Nierop reportedly removed eight of her teeth before immediately gluing dentures onto her raw gums.

Captured after a brief period on the run and detained in a French psychiatric since January 2015, this "horror dentist" does appear to be insane, or at least he wants us to think he is. Van Nierop claims he suffers from a personality disorder, is transgender and suicidal, but last time we checked, none of those conditions are grounds for sadistic cruelty.

We hope this lunatic rots in jail, or hell.
