Maniac stabs two, sets man on fire in bloody New York rampage

NEW YORK — A man is in police custody after carrying out a bloody rampage in Queens, New York that left one person dead and two others seriously injured.
The bloodshed began around 11:20 a.m. on Sunday, when James Patrick Dillon, 23, attacked a neighbor on the street. The New York Post reports that 39-year-old Bertha Carpio was on her way to church when Dillon rode past on his bike, yelling, "What are you looking at, bitch?" After hurling a brick at her, he grabbed her by the hoodie and and slashed her face and head with a knife.
Four hours later, he had an argument with 55-year-old George Patouhas, the owner of a liquor store on Astoria Boulevard, and fatally knifed him in the neck. His third victim was a 61-year-old homeless man, whom he doused with accelerant and lit on fire, according to ABC 7.
Police set out a manhunt for the suspect and eventually found him in the backyard of his 36th Street home.
He refused to drop his weapon and sprayed the cops with the accelerant, burning their hands and faces. The two officers fired several shots, striking him at least twice in both legs to disarm him.
Dillon reportedly has a history of mental illness and was hospitalized for mental health reasons in 2014, according to the New York Daily News.
