Hundreds of aficionados gathered at Cuba’s 18th annual cigar festival in Havana for an unusual competition: who could create the longest chain of unbroken ash.

Contestants exhaled clouds of smoke and held their H. Upmann Sir Winstons 7-inch (17.8 cm) Cuban cigars gently to keep the ash from falling as long as possible.
