Woodman, Spare That Tree

This popular song was first a poem by George Pope Morris and was set to music in 1837 by Henry Russell. It is one of the earliest known songs to champion a social cause: in this case, the preservation of nature. It is a very early American song that was so popular its poem and melody have been used and reused in other musical works. I have tweaked the arrangement, but kept the song as close to the original sheet music as possible. I hope you in enjoy.\r
