Just a month after the rock musician's passing following a battle with cancer, David Bowie was honored tonight at London's BRIT Awards by posthumously receiving the highly esteemed Icon Award. Annie Lennox of Eurythmics fame offered a touching tribute to the artist and then actor Gary Oldman, a good friend of Bowie's, accepted the award on his behalf. Upon receiving the award, he said, "The world lost an artist of transcendent talent. He was the very definition, the living embodiment of that singular word: icon."
