Obama Responds to Girl Who Cried Because He Won't Be President Forever

Perhaps no one is taking the end of President Barack Obama’s presidency harder than this girl. A video of a little girl’s heartbroken, yet adorable, reaction to finding out that the 2016 presidential election meant Obama’s time at the White House was coming to a close has gone viral, striking a chord with many online.The girl, who shares a birthday with Obama, shook with heavy sobs as grandmother Caprina Harris tried to explain to her why Obama’s time as president was up. The girl wailed, “I’m not ready for a new one,” when told there would be a new president.
Harris tried to calm her granddaughter, telling her they would write Obama a letter. The video came to the attention of Obama, who told Harris to dry her granddaughter’s tears in a comment on Facebook.
“Once I leave the White House, I’ll still be a citizen just like her,” Obama wrote. “In the meantime, I’ll keep an eye out for her letter, and we’ll always get to celebrate our birthdays together.”
