Islamophobia has become a serious problem in many areas of the country, and recently the Minnesota Department of Public Safety got caught up in the tensions.
A vanity license plate reading ‘FMUSLMS’ somehow passed the approval process and made its way onto a vehicle. 
On Saturday, a photo of the offending message was posted to Facebook by a member of the group #UniteCloud, setting off a deluge of unfavorable public commentary. 
Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton demanded the plate be both revoked and retrieved.
