Louisiana Captain Clay Higgins threatens street gang in viral video

ACADIANA, LOUISIANA — Louisiana's Captain Clay Higgins appeared on a broadcast Feb. 17 calling out the Gremlins street gang, and the video has gone viral.
Originally aired by local news station KATC-TV 3 in Acadiana, Louisiana, and later posted on the station's Facebook page, the segment featured Higgins directly speaking into the camera to the public and the street gang.
"The Gremlins street gang is responsible for hundreds of violent crimes: murders, armed robberies, witness intimidation, burglaries, drug trafficking, extortion and brutal beatings," said Higgins, who works for St. Landry Crime Stoppers, an independent organization that began in 1982 from the collaborative efforts of the local city commission and police department.
Ten of the gang members have already been arrested last December, and police currently have warrants out for seven others.
Higgins begins the segment dressed in a sheriff's uniform, calling gang members "thugs" and said, "Every one of these animals is most definitely armed and dangerous."
He then switches to a bullet-proof jacket and is armed with a rifle and begins speaking directly to the gang. Calling the wanted criminals out by name, Higgins warns, "You will be hunted, you will be tracked, and if you raise your weapon to a man like me, we'll return fire with superior fire."
Flanked by policemen and community officials, Higgins continues calling out one specific gang member, "Darren Carter, you think men like these are afraid of an uneducated, 125 pound punk like you that's never won a fair fight in your life and holds your gun sideways? Young man, I'll meet you on solid ground, anytime, anywhere, light or heavy, makes no difference to me — you won't walk away."
Carter, 18, is the youngest of the members that was not arrested last year. He was booked in March 2015 for six counts of attempted 1st degree murder and one count of aggravated criminal damage to property.
"Men like us, son, we do dumbbell presses with weights bigger than you," Higgins continued mentioning also that convicts in jail will "toss you around like a ragdoll."
And before the segment ends, Higgins leaves one last message for the gang: "You don't like the things I've told you tonight, I've got one last thing to say … I'm easy to find."
The video has been viewed over 13 million times on Facebook. Police are hoping the footage will encourage the public to come forward with information on the whereabouts of the seven wanted gang members.
