Grammys dispute complaint that Natalie Cole video tribute was 'disrespectful'

Producers of the Grammys award show telecast are defending themselves against criticism from the family of the late Natalie Cole who say the vitange video tribute to her at Monday's show was "disrespectful."
"Frankly, I think it was appropriate," the show's longtime producer, Ken Ehrlich said.
But the family sound as though they believe Cole, who died Dec. 31 at age 65, deserved a tribute more in line with how Lady Gaga performed a medley of David Bowie songs to honor him and his contributions to music and culture over the past four decades.
It's true that Cole didn't get a live, multi-star production number of the sort afforded Bowie, B.B. King or Glenn Frey.
But David Wild, who's co-written the Grammy telecast since 2001, told Billboard that just as much thought went into how to pay homage to Cole as any of the other recently departed honorees.
