$1.26 billion worth of liquid meth-filled bra inserts, art supplies seized in Australia

SYDNEY — More than one billion Australian dollars worth of ice was taken off the streets after a joint operation resulted in one of the largest drug busts in Australian history.

ABC reports that Federal Police seized 720 liters of liquid methamphetamine worth 1.26 billion Australian dollars, or about US$700 million.

In December of 2015, the Australian Border Force examined a shipping container that originated from mainland China and arrived in Sydney via Hong Kong. The container was found to contain 190 liters of the liquid drug hidden in stick-on gel bra inserts.

Another 530 liters were traced to five storage units in Sydney, concealed in bottles of craft glue and painting sets.

A 33-year-old Hong Kong man was arrested last January in connection with the gel bra shipment, according to the South China Morning Post. A 37-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman, both from Hong Kong, and a 59-year-old Chinese national, were apprehended and charged over the storage unit stash.

Because of the large quantity of drugs, the four individuals could face life imprisonment.
