Footage has emerged from China of thick smog causing the closure of several motorways in the south of the country.

The video, filmed in Huaian, Jiangsu Province on Thursday, shows cars attempting to drive through open roads despite the low visibility.

According to local reports visibility south of Yangzhou, north of Taizhou and south of Yancheng is down to less than 200 metres.
