Born At 10 Ounces, One Of The World's Smallest Babies Cleared To Go Home
  • 8 years ago
After nearly 5 months in the hospital, a girl who was born weighing only 10 ounces finally went home.

When E’Layah Faith came into the world 14 weeks ahead of schedule and weighing only 10 ounces, doctors were unsure if she would survive.

Not only has the girl thrived in the roughly 5 months since her birth, she was finally deemed well enough to go home.

E’Layah, who now weighs in at 5 pounds and 7 ounces, was released from Levine Children’s Hospital, part of the Carolinas HealthCare System, on Tuesday.
For now, she will continue to require a feeding tube, but overall her progress has been extraordinary.

Her mother, Megan, describes the girl as, “a very busy little lady, always grabbing and pulling things and moving around.”

Getting to this point has been a very long and complex process.
