Young Sydney boy saved mum's life when house went up in flames

A Fairfield mother and her four children are lucky to be alive after becoming trapped in their burning house in Sydney’s west.

Video of their dramatic escape shows Jenni Rae and her family battling to get out while fire gradually consumes the home.

“I’ve never been so scared in my life,” Ms Rae later told 9NEWS.

She said that as she was leaving she was stopped by a desperate desire to recover the belongings of her son who died aged just four days old.

She was on the verge of turning back when 11-year-old son Bailey Wilton pulled her to safety.
