Manhunt underway for convict who escaped an Arkansas jail by simply climbing over the fence

DALLAS COUNTY, ARKANSAS — Police are searching for a man who escaped from the Dallas County Jail in Arkansas early Sunday, according to the Dallas County Sheriff's Office.

Paul Grice, 38, was still at the jail when a headcount took place at around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, officials said. Arkansas Online reported that authorities didn't realize he was missing until around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Grice apparently escaped by stacking items near a jail fence before putting a blanket over the razor wire and climbing over, said sheriff's office officials. Authorities believe he may have made it as far as Drew County.

Grice is described as a white man standing 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighing 155 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black shirt, blue jeans and a light-colored jacket.

Before he escaped, Grice was waiting to be transferred to the Arkansas Department of Correction after he was convicted on theft and firearms charges. Arkansas Online reported that prison records show he was convicted of second-degree murder in 1990s, and that officials consider him dangerous.
