WUHU, CHINA — A man traveling down a road met with a bad accident that would have cost him his life had he not been wearing a helmet.

In the video posted Feb. 3 on the CCTV News Facebook page, a van is driving down the road when suddenly the biker comes into frame and swerves right into the front left side of the van. Metal explodes into the air, and the man goes flying like a ragdoll.

At first glance, it's difficult to tell how this accident even happened. Watching carefully though, it appears a woman waiting with her motorcycle on the side of the road is deciding whether to re-enter traffic or not. Her indecision causes the biker to swerve to avoid crashing into her, but forces him straight into the van.

As reported on the CCTV News Facebook post, the man's head was well protected at the time of the accident, and saved him from serious injuries. He remains in stable condition.
