NASA: Small Asteroid To Fly Past Earth In March

Two years ago, an asteroid made a close pass by Earth--only 1.3 million miles away. This year, that same object just might make it quite a bit closer.


Two years ago, an asteroid made a close pass by Earth--only 1.3 million miles away. 
This year, that same object just might make it quite a bit closer. 
Asteroid 2013 TX68 is estimated to get as near as 11,000 miles--and as far as 9 million miles--when it passes by on March 5th. 
Such a wide divergence in the object's possible trajectory is due to the lack of time it's been tracked since being discovered. 
Paul Chodas, the manager of NASA's Center for NEO Studies, said,
