Without Donald Trump, the night was desperately in need of some levity to break up the monotony, and Chris Christie brought it.
After the lengthy back and forth between Sen. Marco Rubio and Sen. Ted Cruz on their immigration records, which included video montages of their positions on the issue, Christie was quick to break it up.
"I feel like I need a Washington to English dictionary converter," he said incredulously, after both senators Rubio and Cruz explained away what appeared to be contradicting positions.
At one point, Fox News debate moderator Megyn Kelly interrupted Christie to reassert a fact about the San Bernardino terrorist attackers, a moment that threatened to derail his answer.
