Savage beating of suspect caught on video could earn Florida cop 10 years in prison

OCALA, FLORIDA — A former Florida sheriff's deputy seen beating an unarmed suspect on surveillance footage is facing up to 10 years in prison.
Former Marion County Deputy Jesse Terrell, 33, was indicted on Wednesday on the strength of video footage of the Aug. 7, 2014 incident, according to NBC News.
It shows drug suspect Derrick Price, listed in court documents as 44 years old, surrendering peacefully to five Marion County deputies following a pursuit. Price runs into a parking lot, puts his hands in the air and lies on the ground, submitting to arrest.
What follows next is a savage beating as the deputies jump out of a truck and then strike Price repeatedly with their hands, knees and boots.
At no time does Price appear to struggle or resist arrest but bodycam footage taken by one of the deputies appears to tell a different story. The deputies scream at the suspect to stop resisting and put his hands behind his back.
All five deputies were suspended immediately after the video footage emerged just four days after incident, according to NBC News.
Terrell was fired and the other four deputies resigned.
Terrell was charged with violating civil rights by using excessive force. If convicted he faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of $250,000, WESH reported.
Nine drug charges against Price are pending but one count of resisting an officer was dropped, according to NBC News.
