Martin List was 11 when the Russians liberated him and he became their interpreter. He traveled with them to Stalag 10, which was later immortalized in The Great Escape, and watched Berlin fall before returning to Pilzno, where he and other Jewish survivors - 16 in total - exhumed the bodies of their loved ones who had been murdered by the Poles, re-buried them in a mass grave, and erected a monument listing all their names.
