CNN/ORC Poll Finds Trump’s Lead Over Fellow GOP Candidates Is Growing

Donald Trump, the candidate many dismissed early in the GOP race, is still the party’s frontrunner, and his lead continues to grow.

Donald Trump, the candidate many dismissed early in the GOP race, is still the party’s frontrunner, and his lead continues to grow.

According to a CNN/ORC poll, his overall support now stands at 41%, more than twice that of his closest rival, Ted Cruz. 

While the race is tighter among some subgroups, including college graduates and those who identify themselves as tea party members, 68% of respondents believe Trump will ultimately win the nomination. 

After that, the outlook for billionaire is less optimistic.

Respondents feel he will have a tougher time beating Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders than Cruz would. 

The poll was conducted between the 21st and 24th of January and involved just over 1,000 adult
