Extradition sought for man who allegedly murdered his nephews and attacked his wife with an ax

LOS ANGELES — The hunt for Deyun Shi is over. The Chinese man, wanted for the killing of his two nephews and the attempted murder of his wife in California, fled the United States after the alleged crimes but was apprehended in Hong Kong on Friday.

Deyun Shi attacked his wife with an ax Thursday night but was stopped by their 15-year-old son.

Shi's wife's brother and the brother's wife went to visit her in the hospital after their two teenage sons went to sleep.

Shi then went to his nephews' Arcadia home and attacked the two 15 and 16-year-olds. William and Anthony Lin suffered blunt force trauma and were pronounced dead at the scene. The parents didn't find the boys bodies until 5 a.m. Friday morning.

Shi boarded a flight from LA on Friday was arrested in Hong Kong on Saturday. He was photographed with a black bag over his head while he was escorted by a Hong Kong police officer.

Representing himself in a Hong Kong courtroom, the suspected murderer gave his unconditional consent to be handed over to U.S. authorities for extradition. However, Shi told the courtroom that, "the details of the allegations against me are not true."
